Couples counselling can be a beneficial option when romantic partners are facing all types of challenges -- from communication issues to pre-martial support. Commonly, getting both partners to agree to work on difficulties with a counsellor can be the first obstacle. One of both people may be reluctant to invite a professional into their personal relationship problems for fear of criticism or judgment. Deciding to reach out to a counsellor can be an intimidating step and another source of disagreement.

Your counsellor may also be able to provide support to you both by reaching out to your partner to encourage their participation in the counselling process.
